Organic Cotton Infinity Scarf (Pink)

CA$120.00

Organic cotton is such a treat!!! Super-soft and substantial infinity scarf in heavyweight organic cotton gauze with a large and subtle waffle weave .

A fun, fabulous scarf to keep you warm on cool spring walks or to pair with summer dresses.

Although you can't see it, the inside raw edges are finished so that this scarf will stand up to repeated washing. Wash in cold water on delicate setting and hang to dry. A slow-fashion, high quality, handmade garment. This scarf is made to last.

The fabric was designed by Jessica at Pin and Blossom and digitally printed using Spoonflower. (You can purchase this fabric on that platform if you'd like to use it in one of your creations and Pin and Blossom will receive a royalty from the sale).

The fabric's surface pattern of repeating pink leaves was created by using a very old type of photography called Cyanotype, that dates back to 1842. The source photo for the design has cyanotype's distinctive blue colour, which you can see in the photos for the item. Also, used together with the cyanotype process, is a camera-less photography technique called 'photogram.'

To make a photogram, you place objects directly onto photo paper and then expose it to light to create an image.

In this case, the geranium leaf was placed on the paper to create the original image. The original was then scanned and treated to a bit of magic in Photoshop. It was switched to a positive image, and the colours were adjusted to make pink, green and blue variations. The pattern's repeat was created in Photoshop as well and then Spoonflower printed the resulting pattern on lovely organic cotton gauze.
