The beautiful, one-of-a-kind, surface pattern was made with real plants on fabric that was specially treated by hand with the photographic process called 'cyanotype.'

Cyanotype fabric is non-toxic and can be worn and used like any other hand-wash only fabric. The image on this garment is permanent as long as you do not use certain detergents that can bleach the image. 

I recommend hand washing with Dr. Bronner's liquid Castille soap which is widely available. Detailed washing instructions are included with the scarf along with a fabric swatch so you can test out your own soap.
