Unframed 5 x 7 archival print - This is a deep blue giclee print of a branch of vetch leaf. Vetch is a scrambling herbaceous plant that is a member of the pea family.

The print size is 5 x 7 inches. Safely sealed in an archival clear plastic sleeve, the print is supported by a piece of archival matboard.

This is a faithful reproduction of one of my original cyanotype photograms.

Cyanotype is a photographic process that dates back to 1842. It has a distinctive, deep blue colour.

Photograms are camera-less photographs. To make a photogram, you place objects directly onto photo paper and then expose it to light to create an image. In this case, the branch of vetch was placed on the paper to create the original image.

The brushy edges and drips come from the process of coating the paper of the original image with the cyanotype fluid.

Once I had created the original image, I then scanned it, took pains with the colour correction, and printed the giclee reproduction on a professional Epson printer.
